Discover Diu
An island you can
see in a week,
or a lifetime.
Six outings we send guests on, roughly in the order we'd do them. None takes a whole day. Most are a short ride from the gate.

01
Nagoa, before anyone
Ten minutes west · Best before 8am
A long curve of palm and sand. Go early and it is yours — by eleven the shacks are open and it belongs to everyone else.
-
02
Diu Fort
Old town · Open till sunset
Coral stone walls straight out over open water, a lighthouse still working, and cannon left exactly where the Portuguese set them down.
-
03
St. Paul's & the old quarter
Diu town · Quietest before evening mass
Baroque façades, painted lanes and doorways in colours nobody would dare use now. Walk it slowly; it is only a few streets deep.
-
04
Vanakbara harbour
The island's western end · Early morning
Painted trawlers three deep, gulls arguing over the catch, nets drying the length of the sea wall. Ask us to pack chá for the drive.
-
05
A long lunch
Anywhere with a window · Around 1pm
Ceiling fans, grilled catch, lime soda and no reason to hurry. Lunch in Diu is not a pause in the day — for a while it is the day.

06
Sunset from the ramparts
Back at the fort · Time moves through the year
The sea turns, the lighthouse takes over, and the courtyard at the house is waiting when you get back. We keep today's time at the desk.
Tell us what kind of day you want.
We'll point you at the right beach, the right table and the right hour to leave. It is a small island and we have had a long time to work it out.
